Ackerman Found Dead in Bed at Home September 19 Stopping by her father's home on her return from church Sunday noon, September 19, Mrs.Jess Torbett found the lifeless body of her father in bed, where death came to him apparently some time during the previous day, September 18. Mr. Ackerman, who was last seen alive by Ted Cross, a near neighbor, on Friday afternoon, came to his death by natural causes, as he was known to be suffering from a coronary ailment. Charles Henry Ackerman was born at Coatsburg, Illinois, December 15, 1869, and came to this section of Missouri with his parents at the age of 12, and spent the remainder of his life here. He was married in 1896 to Leona Ellen McDonald, who preceded him in death ten years ago. To this union were born five children, all of whom survive. They are Arthur, of near Chesapeake, Fred of Florida, Mrs. Jess Torbett, residing east of Marionville, Mrs. Harold Crumpley of Galena, and Mrs. Edith Tewmey of Springfield. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. T. J. Haney, in the Bradford funeral home, and burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery.-- Marionville Free Press.
