There have been many stories involving her true name, some misleading, some mistaken. For years, Rebecca thought her name was actually Minnie Rebecca Dover. It annoyed her no end that she was called Minnie as a child and in her later years, she seeked to legally remove it. Upon reviewing her birth certificate, she found out that Minnie was never on it. The origin of the nickname will forever be a mystery.
The spelling of Rebecca is also misleading. The true spelling is "Rebecca" but she preferred the elegance of "Rebecah," which is used on her crypt marker.
