Gertrude E. Abbadini
Member of Historic Church of St. Peter
Gertrude E. "Gert" Abbadini, 85, of Hiller, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 10, 2011, in her home.

She was born April 10, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late James B. and Louise Fantini Rosa, formerly of LaBelle.

Mrs. Abbadini was a member of Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville, Catholic Daughters of America Brownsville Court 1141 and Birthday Girls.

She and her late husband owned and operated Abbadini's Bar and Restaurant in Bentleyville from 1952 to 1979, when they moved to Hiller.

Deceased are her husband, Jerry A. Abbadini, and sister-in-law Ann Abbadini.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Lillian Baroni and husband Frank of Naperville, Ill.; brothers-in-law Orlando Abbadini of Richeyville and Robert Abbadini and wife Gladys of Waynesburg; cousin and caregiver Helene Dellarose and husband Ronald of Labelle; and many beloved cousins, nephews and nieces.

She also leaves many friends.

She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Abbadini will be remembered for her big heart and loving and caring nature. Her door of her home was always open to family and friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. in Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville, with the Rev. Micah Kozoil as celebrant. Interment will be in Redstone Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. CD of A Brownsville Court 1141 will recite the rosary at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Abbadini's sitters, Joyce, Brittany and Sarah, provided compassionate and loving care for her.
