Death of John Amann.
At 9:30 Wednesday morning, November 28, an old resident, John Amann, quietly passed away at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 4 days.
Deceased was born in Schmittwiller, Rhenish Bavaria, Germany, May 19, 1824 and came to America in 1846, and was married to Miss Barbara Mohring three years later at Syracuse, N.Y. They came to Guttenberg June 1st, 1854, and bought a farm four miles south of town near the Turkey river, on which they remained until 1867 when they moved to Guttenberg, where they devoted their time to vegetable gardening. Mr. Amann suffered from rheumatism for the past ten years. He was taken ill and confined to his bed six weeks ago, and five days previous to his death was unable to take food of any kind.
He leaves a wife aged 81 years, whose brother John Mohring and wife, of Falls City, Neb., have been here for the past four weeks lending assistance during his illness, and who will take Mrs. Amann with them and provide a comfortable home during her remaining days.
The funeral will take place this (Friday) afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment in the City cemetery.

AN OLD RESIDENT DEAD
Death Came Wednesday Forenoon After a Long Illness.
John Amann, who has been a resident of this city the past thirty-five years, passed away at 9:30 Wednesday morning, aged nearly eighty-three years. He had been ailing for a long time and for the two week's previous to his death was unable to take nourishment of any kind. Previous to moving into town thirty-five years ago he owned and resided on the farm near here which later became the property of the late William Wolter.
Mr. Ammann was born in Rhein Bayern, Germany, May 19, 1824. He came to America in 1846 and three years later was married to Miss Barbara Mohring of Syracuse, New York. They came here and settled on the farm in this township in the year 1854.
The deceased is survived by his aged widow. The funeral will take place at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow (Friday) afternoon with interment in the City cemetery.
