E. S. BLIZZARD, 68, DIED AT SON'S HOME.
Esteemed Citizen was Ill But Few Weeks at the Home of His son.
E. S. BLIZZARD, who had been so seriously ill for the past few weeks, passed peacefully away at the home of his son, Clark BLIZZARD, where he was tenderly cared for my his son and two daughters.
Mr. BLIZZARD was every whit a gentleman, upright and honorable. He loved his home, his children, and delighted in being with his grandchildren. He was a firm believer in and practiced in his daily life. The principles of Christian faith. Quit and unassuming, friendly, courteous, and obliging.
Mr. BLIZZARD made many friends, Since the death of his wife five years ago he made his home with his children, where he was gladly welcome. For the past several months he had been in Randolph.
Edwin Stanton BLIZZARD was born at Olin, Jones county, Iowa, on August 14, 1863, where he lived until 1872, when he moved with his parents to Harlan, Iowa. He was married to Miss Adaline BEEMS at Harlan on January 22, 1889 (1890), the young couple making their home on a farm near that city for six years, moving to Harlan in 1895. In 1904 the family left familiar scenes, moving to Bonesteel, S. D. where they made their home for nine years, returning to Harlan in 1913. The family moved to Randolph in 1916. Here the first of the family ties were broken when Mrs. BLIZZARD passed away in 1926, a loss keenly tweenly felt by the husband.
Deceased is survived by three children and four grandchildren. LINLEY, of Kansas City; Mrs. Chas. SMITH of Bonesteel, S. D.; and Clark BLIZZARD of Randolph. The children were constantly at the bedside of their father during his illness. His only brother William, died in Omaha in April.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, in charge of Rev. Wilcox. The church was filled with friends who came to pay their respects to a good citizen. The local masonic lodge, of which the deceased was a member, attended in a body. Interment was made in the Randolph cemetery beside his wife.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs Jack Westrope, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Westrope, and Mrs. Jennie Obrecht, all of Harlan, Ia.; Mrs. Marcus Larson, of Kirkman, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold ZART, of Crofton; Mr. and Mrs. John BEEMS of Noebrara; and Mr. and Mrs. John Lindley of Pender.
