Obit:
Wanda Fay Asher, daughter of William Wilton Price and Pearl Eldie (Batchelor) Price, was born Aug. 24, 1945, at the Elkland home place and passed away at 3:12p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, in St. John's Regional Health Center, at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 23 days. Fay attended school at the Shady Grove School and Elkland High School. She went on to become a beautician and practiced that profession for many years. For a time, she also ran the Elkland Lions Club Cafe. Fay had many interests in life. She raised dogs, loved to sew and spend time outside burning leaves and brush. But, most of all, she loved her family. Her family always came first to her. There was never a stranger in her home. She made everyone feel like they were a part of her family. Before her illness took over, it was very common for her to have a houseful of boys come in from fishing or hunting, sitting around the kitchen table while she cooked them something to eat. This went from sons to grandsons, and on down the line. She was very special and meant a lot to many people. She will be greatly misses by anyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, William, her first husband Billy Wayne Evans; a sister-in-law, Zella Alkire; a brother-in-law, Joe Alkire; her grandparents; and aunts and uncles. Survivors include her husband, Jerry; three sons, Gene Evans and his wife Lisa, Elkland, Jeremy Asher, Elkland, and James Asher, Elkland; a daughter, Reenea Yarbrough and her husband Greg, Marshfield; her mother, Pearl Price, Elkland; a brother, Dennis Price and his wife Shelly, Elkland; a sister, Viola Gann and her husband Edward, Marshfield; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Frances Rugg and her husband Phillip, Marshfield; and a brother-in-law, Jim Asher and his wife, Katherine, Springdale, Arkansas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, in the Elkland Full Gospel Church with Pastor Bill Smiley officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, near Elkland. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today in Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield.
