Julia was born in Dvelaičiai and immigrated from Lithuania to Bridgeport, CT in 1910. Julia and her sister Anna "Paterbycia"* married the Norkus brothers, John & Vincent ("William"). With her husband John, she had these children: Madaline (Margaret) N. [Mrs. Paul S. Koczy Jr] 1912 – 1994, Alexander B. 1913 – 1973, Anna N. [Mrs. Stephen L. Kyer] 1915 – 1991, Frank B. 1915 – 1960, Sophie (Fay) T. [Mrs. Frank Stopa] 1918 – 1992, Victoria K. [Mrs. Plante] 1918 – ?, Edward P 1920 – 1975, Joseph L. 1923 – 1962, Albert W. Norkus [Marie] 1924 – 1990, George (Jurgis) 1925 – 1926, John L. 1927 – 1976, Leo H 1929 – 1971, & Beatrice Alice [Mrs. Steve Topor] 1931 – 1984.

The name "Paterbycia", as was spelled on many American records, is properly written in Lithuanian as Paterebaité for an unmarried woman. Her parents were
Tadeušas Paterebas & Marijona Rubašiūtė.
