Tuesday, 28 May 1946 St. Joseph News-Press reads:

Charles LaFollette Dies at Age of 72

Charles LaFollette, 72 years old, died this morning at his home in Gower. He was born in the state of Indiana but had spent the greater part of his life in Clinton and Buchanan Counties, MO. Mr. LaFollette was a member of the Gower Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elva LaFollette; a son, Elmer LaFollette of Robinson KS; a daughter, Mrs. Cassie Smalley of Seneca KS; a sister, Mrs. Dora Miller of St. Joseph; and a brother Grover LaFollette of Agency.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Gower Baptist Church. Burial will be in Frazier Cemetery, west of Gower. The body is at the H. A. Sullins mortuary in Gower.
