Wilhelmena "Minnie" was the wife of Civil War Veteran, PVT. Andrew Ambuhl. Andrew had emigrated from Switzerland in 1854. Having been in America only 7 years, he willingly went to war to fight for the Union. He served in Co. C, of the 2nd Wisconsin Cavalry from 1861-1865.
Minnie emigrated from Prussia in 1874 or 1875. In 1877 she married Andrew, and the couple settled in Wisconsin. By 1880 they had started a family and were farming in Buffalo, Buffalo Co., WI.
Andrew and Minnie had five children: Elisabeth, John, Emil, Angelina, and Andrew. All but one lived to adulthood. The Ambuhl family moved to Winona Co., MN and may have engaged in farming in Homer, but by 1900 they were settled in the city of Winona at 476 E. Mark St.
Andrew died in 1916, and Minnie went to live with her married daughter, Angelina Johnke. Minnie died in 1928.
