Helen G. Ediger, 83, died April 26, 1986, at Hutchinson [Kansas] Hospital. She was born March 13, 1903, in Harvey County, to Cornelius C. Enns and
Helena (Toevs) Enns, the second oldest of nine siblings. While living in Inman and working at the Inman Mutual Telephone Exchange, she met and later married Peter A. Ediger on Jan. 10, 1926 at Inman.
In the early years of their marriage, Pete and Helen resided in McPherson, but moved to Kingman, Kansas, in 1948 when her husband was transferred with his job as a gas pipeline walker. They also lived in Pratt, Kansas, for a time, and in 1951 moved to Hutchinson.
She was formerly a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (now known as Community of Christ) but in later years attended the First Missionary Church in Hutchinson.
Survivors at the time of her death were a son, Verne; a daughter, Leona; one brother, Walter; three sisters, Marie Enns, Hulda Penner, and Elma Dickson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Roland; son, LeRoy; and infant daughter, LaVonne.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 29 at Johnson & Sons Memorial Chapel, with pastor Robert Gates officiating. Burial followed at Hoffnungsau Cemetery, southeast of Inman.
