By letter dated 8 Jul 1784 from the Office of Robert Morris "the Financier of the American Revolution" was a Secretary of the Treasury in everything but title, first of a distinguished line of succession with Alexander Hamilton and Albert Gallatin in laying the economic and financial foundations of the United States.
