John's obituary was in the Chanute Tribue, Friday March 31st, 1922
"John Benson Dead Services in Grant Avenue Baptist Church Tomorrow at 3 P.M. John Benson, 86 years of age died at the home of his son Martin J. Benson, four miles northwest of Petrolia, yesterday. The funeral will be held at 3 tomorrow afternoon in the Grant Avenue Baptist Chruch. They will be conducted by its pastor, Rev. A. E. Carlson, and Rev. Penn, the latter a long-time friend of Mr. Benson. Mr. Benson was a resident of this city for many years, but had made his home with his son since November 1920. He was born in Sweden November 14, 1935. His wife died here ten years ago and he is survivied by the son and three daughters --- Dr. Lowry of Ann Arbor, MI; Mrs. Tilly Muench of Great Bend KS; and Mrs. Elmer Woodward of Healing Springs AR.
