Mr. Edward Herman "Ed" Klevinski, 84, of Clemmons, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Bermuda Terrance Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Scranton, Pa., to the late Frances Matthew and Catherine Peitch Klevinski.

Mr. Klevinski was a graduate of Johnson School of Technology. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II at the Pautuxent Naval Air Test Station. Prior to enlisting in the Navy, he built landing craft for the Normandy invasion at Owens Yacht Company in Baltimore, Md. After military service, he worked for Western Electric Company in Baltimore for 38 years as a design engineer. In the late 1960's, he transferred to the Western Electric division working on the Safeguard Antiballistic Missile Program for the Defense Department. This work brought him to Winston-Salem. His last years of work involved designing communication systems for military bases and U.S. Embassies throughout the world. He was an active member of the Isaak Walton League in Bel Air, Maryland. His many hobbies included his lifelong pursuit of model railroading.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anne Hagaman Klevinski (daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Fred C. Hagaman); two sons, Mark Klevinski and wife, Dianne, of Tobaccoville and Edward Klevinski, Jr. and wife, Sami, of Clemmons; two granddaughters, Lisa Talley of Winston-Salem and Lita Crockett and husband, Steve, of Clemmons; one sister, Mrs. Julia Terry of Pueblo, Colo.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion Klevinski; one brother, and three sisters.

Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
