Benjamin Cooper, of the U.S. Navy, died at his residence in this city on Saturday morning last, aged 57 years. He was a native of New Jersey, and distinguished himself in the last war with England,under Lawrence, in the Hornet. Commodore Cooper has been long and favorably known to our citizens as a man of estimable-character. His disease was consumption, and he leaves a wife and family to mourn his loss. The funeral will take place this afternoon from his late residence in Hicks st. The father of Commodore Cooper is still living, and holds a command in the navy. He was a distinguished and brave officer in Lee's legion during the war of the revolution.
