RAPID CITY - Boyce Earl Asheim, 85, Rapid City, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at a local nursing home. Boyce Earl Asheim was born April 19, 1924, in his grandfather's ranch house near Elm Springs to Oscar Earl and Golda Violet [Moorhead] Asheim. He attended Pierce Grade School at Elm Springs and graduated from New Underwood High School in 1943. Boyce then joined the United States Navy in November of 1943 and served our country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946. Boyce obtained his Associates Degree in Business in 1946 upon returning from the war. He married Vena E. Walthall on Nov. 6, 1946. He worked in the Rapid City area at Black Hills Power, West River Equipment, Summit Construction, Inc., M & M Fencing, and Kulesza & Sons. Survivors include his wife, Vena; one daughter, Ruth and her husband Arlen,and their children, Michelle , Nikole , Aaron , and Mathew ; two sons, Kenneth and his wife Shirley, Rapid City and their children, Denice and Deann , and Rich and his wife Lanette,, and their children, Magara and Colton ; and two brothers, Waldemar , and Dwain . He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Harold , and one granddaughter, Stephanie . Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 22, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1012 Soo San Drive, with the Rev. Bob Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors conducted by the Rushmore VFW Post #1273 and the South Dakota National Guard. Memorials can be directed to the Rapid City Shrine Club Travel Fund. An online guestbook may be signed at
