Son of Sorensen Degn & Volberg Peterson. Olaf emigrated with his family from Denmark in 1885 at the age of 17 years.
Olaf married Elizabeth Spurgeon Gwinn Radcliff after her divorce in 1902. In the 1910-11 Polk directory for Walla Walla, WA, Olaf lists his occupation as a bartender at the Elk Saloon and in 1920 is occupation is listed as a truck driver for the County. Olaf and Elizabeth moved from Walla Walla, WA to Olympia, WA in about 1923. Both resided in Olympia near their children and grandchildren until their deaths; Elizabeth in 1939, Olaf in 1948. Both were returned to Walla Walla for burial and rest beside their daughters in Mountain View Cemetery at the intersection of Cypress and Meridian.
* Josephine Radcliff Degn (1893-1901, Scarlet Fever)
It is not known if Olaf adopted Josephine. She is listed as Josephine Degn on her gravestone, but she is listed as Josephine Radcliff on her death certificate.
Olaf and Elizabeth had two children together:
* Anna Volberg Degn (b. 1903 - d. 1910 due to Fire accident)
* Nelson Sorensen Degn/Dean (b.1908 - 1989)
