1938-2004

AGENCY, Mo. - Delbert Gene Amos, 65, of Agency, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at K.U. Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 17, 1938, to Jake and Bessie
(Giddens) Amos near Frazier, Mo., where he grew up and later graduated from Gower, Mo., high school.
On Dec. 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Darlene Spiers. After their marriage, they lived in Edgerton and Dearborn, Mo., and in 1960, they moved to the Frazier area, where they made their home.
Delbert owned and operated Amos Construction for over 30 years and was currently engaged in farming.
He was a member of the Frazier Baptist Church, East Buchanan F.F.A. Alumni Association, East Buchanan F.F.A. advisory board, and received the East Buchanan F.F.A. Mural Award for Outstanding Service and Dedication in 2003. Delbert was a past member of the Buchanan County Extension Council, and past member and officer of the East Buchanan School Board for 12 years. He was past president of the Northwest Missouri Tractor Pullers Association and past 4-H Club leader.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Amos Walker; and son, Kenny Amos.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene of the home; son, Gene Amos, and wife, Lana, Agency, Mo.; daughter, Cindy Steele, and husband, Joel, De Kalb, Mo.; daughter-in-law, La Donna Giffon, and husband, Ray, Guilford, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Kenny, Jennifer, Janelle, Jason, Danielle, Amanda, Jake and Arthur; great-grandson, Tyler; sister, Juanita Routh, and husband, Neal, Agency; many other brothers and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; and many friends.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at Frazier Baptist Church, Frazier. Burial: Frazier Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the church. Donations may be made to the Delbert Amos East Buchanan F.F.A. Memorial Scholarship Fund. Arrangements: Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
