Jean Edward Butler 1929-2012
Jean Edward Butler, 83, a Wallowa County native, died Aug. 29, 2012, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital.
He was born at Joseph, the son of James E. and Zola Mae (Quinn) Butler. The family lived on the Divide, where Jean attended grade school, and moved to his grandmother's home in Joseph to attend high school.
He worked the family farm from 1948 to 1997. In 1951 he served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
In 1978 he became clerk of the Joseph Cemetery and continued in that position until his death. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Liberty Grange Odd Fellows and the Rebekahs. He was a member of the Wallowa County Museum board.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, with military honors by the American Legion and National Honor Guard.
