Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" (Groah) Cain 1875-1965

Margaret Elizabeth Groah was born November 9, 1875 in Market, Doddridge county, West Virginia, the third child born to Andrew Jackson Groah and Emzy Jane (Russell) Groah.

Her seven siblings include; William Ellsworth Groah, Hattie May Groah, Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" (Groah) Cain, John Franklin Groah, Mary Alma Groah, Howard Averie Groah, Milton Groah and Scott Filmore Groah.

Maggie married Wirt Winfield Cain on February 27, 1904 in Porto Rico, Doddridge county, West Virginia. He was the son of Hiram Cain and Dorinda Cain.

They became the parents to seven children; Milbren Virginia Cain, Helen Rosmond Cain, Doris Isabel Cain, Carlyle Eugene Cain, Pauline Winifred Cain, Harry Jackson Cain and Warren Monroe Cain.

Maggie passed away September 27, 1965 in Cairo, Ritchie county, West Virginia and was laid to rest in the Robinson Cemetery in Porto Rico, Doddridge county, West Virginia.

Mrs Maggie Cain Mrs. Maggie Groah Cain, 90, Cario Rt. 1, died Monday, September 27, 1965 at her home. She was born in Doddridge County, a daughter of the late Adrew Jacksonn and Jane RussellGroah, and was the widow of Winfield Cain, who died in 1956. She was a retired School teacher and a member of the Locust Grove Church, Doddridge County.

Surviving are two sons, Carlyle Cain at home and Warren M. Cain, Parkersburg; Three daughters, Milbren Cain, Cario, Mrs. doris Farlow, Urichsville, Ohio and Pauline Cain at home; Two brothers, John F. Groah, Petroleum and Milton Groah, Camden; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and daughter are deceased The body was taken to The Raiguel Funeral Home, Cario.

Addition notes from this submitter stated: Maggie taught nine terms; hobby poetry, Published "Echoes form Memory". Member of Methodist Protestant Church, Market, W.Va., which her father helped to build. Member of Ann Royale Chapter DAR, Ritchie Co., WV.
