Linzy Ballu, retired, son of Linzy and Agnes (Repley) Ballu, was born in Wayne County, Ky., July 7, 1805; his parents located in Kentucky in an early day. Thence they removed to Tennessee, where his father died; his mother died in Tipton County. The subject of this sketch was reared and educated in his native State, and in 1827 came to Indiana, and first settled on forty actress of land in Monroe County; he cultivated this farm about ten years, when he sold and settled on forty acres in Madison County. When he had improved this, he disposed of it and purchased 160 acres in Taylor Township, Howard County; he subsequently located at Nevada, Tipton County, where he purchased town property; here he remained until 1878, when he came to Sharpsville, where ie is living a retired life with his daughter, Mrs. Mary G. Wisner. Mr. Ballu was married in Wayne County, Ky., August 26, 1824, to Miss Nancy Sims, of North Carolina, daughter of William and Rachel (Hose) Sims. Mrs. Ballu died in Tipton County, Ind., August 5, 1876, leaving three children – Mary G., Allen P., and Rachel. Mr. Ballu was elected Justice of the Peace in 1863, and served twenty years; he has held the position of Deputy Postmaster and railroad agent at Nevada; he is a member of the Methodist Church, and a Republican in politics.
