Birth: Mar. 5, 1883, Italy
Death: May 2, 1947
Philadelphia County
Pennsylvania, USA

WWI Veteran, Husband, Father
A native of Philadelphia, Salvatore De Marzo was the son of Italian immigrants, Antonio and Antonia De Marzo. He married Maria Capolla, a beautiful seamstress who resided in NYC. They produced a son, Anthony in 1914 and daughter Antoinette in 1916. During WWI, Salvatore briefly served in the US Army. Tragedy struck him and his family in 1918. He would never be the same afterwards. While on military leave, he returned to find his dear wife has just passed away from The Great Influenza. Salvatore then severed ties with the Capolla family and returned his two children to Philadelphia to the care of his parents. As they raised the children in the Depression era, Salvatore struggled to stay gainfully employed. At one point, he worked as a detective, doing footwork for a lawyer. But his stubborness, terrible temper, and drinking were his great undoing and kept him distant from his family. Unknown to his family for days, he passed after falling down a flight of stairs and breaking his neck. He reportedly walked away from the mishap, but later died in his bed.
