Gibson was the son of Robert Lee "Bob" Bradshaw and Emma Vistula Gamble. He attended the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn Univ.) for one year and then operated a small restaurant in Roanoke. In August 1934 he married Merle Griffin from Goodlett, TX and in early 1936 they moved with their first child to Denver, CO. In Denver, he established the Denver Distributing Co., a very successful distributorship and operator of Rock-Ola, Wurlitzer, and other brand juke boxes and amusement machines. In Sept 1950, at age 43, he retired and returned to Roanoke where he purchased approximately 2,000 acres of land and began development for cattle raising. However, he and Merle were divorced in Sept 1954 and Gibson died less than two years later at age 49. He is buried with his parents at the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Bacon Level.
