John B. Wilhoite, farmer and stock dealer, was a son of William and Anna A. (Warner) Wilhoite. In 1862, he volunteered in the Confederate States Army, Holman's 11th Tennessee Cavalry, Co. C, under Lt Gen NB Forrest. After three years, he returned to the family plantation and mill at Fishing Ford (Wilhoite), TN near Chapel Hill. In 1869, he wed Lizzie T. Bullock of Williamson County. They had three children, Jacob, Mary and Addie.
