OBITUARY of BENJAMIN C. BARTO
Yorktown, VA - Benjamin Clark Barto, 64, formerly of Milton, died Monday, March 1, 2004, in Yorktown, VA.
Born in Milton, Mr. Barto was a resident of Yorktown, VA since 1974.
His wife of 45 years, Gladys Barto, survives.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Barto retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 1985 after 26 years of service. He earned the Bronze Star and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry for his service.
Mr. Barto was employed at Fort Monroe TRADOC with the Civil Service and retired in October 2002.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steven Barto of Luray, VA; a daughter, Trina Ann Barto of Louisville, KY; a brother, Jim Barto of Allenwood, PA; two sisters, Judy Doan of Hamlin, NY and Bonnie Hilner of Leucadia, CA; and a grandson, Steven McCabe Barto of Chiloquin, OR.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Armory Funeral Home Chapel, Yorktown, VA. The funeral will be at noon Saturday in the funeral home.
Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Ben Barto, care of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 1023 15th St., N.W., Second floor, Washington D.C. 2005 or to the Army Transportation.
Graduated from Milton Senior High School, Milton, PA in 1957.
