J. Max Grittner, 75, once of Turbot Ave., Milton, PA

Milton--J. Max Grittner, 75, Skylark Mobile Estates, 1597 Alamo Drive, Sp. 183, Vacaville, CA, formerly of Turbot Avenue, Milton, died Monday in a hospital in Folsom, CA.

He moved to California earlier this month.
Born in Turbotville, PA Sept. 22, 1911, he was the son of the late Charles and Hattie (Wintersteen) Grittner. He was married to the former Helen Mae Rauch for more than 50 years.

He had been employed at Milton Wood Products and retired in 1979 from Sears Roebuck Store, Milton, where he was employed in the shipping department.

Mr. Grittner was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Milton.

He was a 1931 graduate of Hughesville High School and attended Temple University, Philadelphia.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert L of El Dorado Hills, CA; a daughter, Nancy Hartman (remarried to Dale Froh in 1995 and living in Port Angeles, WA) of Vacaville; three grandchildren, Brenda Hartman, Linda & Jim Grittner; and a sister, Evelyn Reeder of Montoursville.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Shaw Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev. Fred L Romig. Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.

There will be no visitation Friday evening. Visitors may call at the funeral home Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to the time of the service.

Contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Christ Lutheran Church, Milton.
