NOTE: Two marriages, first to Louis Thomas and second to Mortimore J. Cayton

Thelma "Dink" Rose (Sumpter) Cayton, 79 of Laurel Valley, Clarksburg, passed away Sunday March 20, 2011 at the United Hospital Center following a short illness. She was born on June 6, 1931 at Kingston, WV, a daughter to the late Scott Sumpter and Grace (Bond) Sumpter.

She is survived by three sons; Daniel and Cheri Thomas, Vermillion, OH, James and Harriet Thomas, Nutter Fort, Chuck and Julie Thomas, Quiet Dell; one daughter, Theresa and Allen Jones, Clarksburg; and one step daughter, Jo Ann Kloska, Carmichael, PA; one sister, Louise Seger, Amherst, OH; twenty seven grandchildren and great grandchildren, a special brother and sister in law, Bob and Marie Boggess, a sister in law, Bernice Sumpter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thelma was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Thomas and her second husband, Mortimore J. Cayton, an infant daughter, Cheryl Annette Thomas, eight brothers and sisters and a son in law Keith Kloska.

Thelma was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Clarksburg. She loved to bowl and was a member of the Woman's Bowling League at Compton Lanes. She was a member of several winning tournament teams. She worked many years at R&L Coal Company as a bookkeeper. Thelma also owned and operated Thelma's Grocery in Nutter Fort.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to friends and neighbors : Dick, Sue and Adam Peters and Christie and Lee Fredrickson. A special thank you goes to Dr. Dana Bragg for the many years of excellent care that you provided and to Greg and Angie RN's on the 6th floor of UHC for going above and beyond.

Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg from 2:00 -4:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, were a Catholic Burial Rites will take place on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with The Reverend Father Douglas Ondeck presiding. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg.
