KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Ruth Davis Aldridge, 85, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Aldridge was born in Forsyth County to the late Charles Edward and Mary Young Davis. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Aldridge; and three sisters, Lena Davis, Annie Sue Smith and Agnes Boose. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Dennis) Gaddy of Kernersville and Sharon Ellis of Lexington; two sons, James (Becky) Aldridge of Kernersville and Jeff (Kathy) Aldridge of Kernersville; and six grandchildren, Nikki Ellis, Lauren Mizell and Jimmy, Chad, Tara and Justin Aldridge. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Pisgah United Methodist Church, Kernersville, with the Rev Harold Shives and the Rev. Ellen Harkey officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 14, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home, Kernersville. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
