Hartford Kansas; Times Dec. 28, 1934 - CLEMMER, Charles William, a resident of the Harmony District for over 45 years passed away Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 1934, at 4 o'clock, at his new home in Hartford, surrounded by his loving wile, his seven children and his only surviving sister. Be was aged 63 years, 4 months and 15 dags. Enjoying comparatively good health until last summer the deceased was always found busy with his chosen work, that of a farmer. On December 3rd be was taken ill with heart trouble and on Monday Dec. 24th, suffered a stroke of paralysis, from which died at the time above stated, conscious until the last. He passed away the day before tbe 41st anniversary of his marriage.
Charles William Clemmer, son of James and Addie Clemmer, was born in Vermont ILLs, Aug. 10,1871. When 15 Years of age be came with his parents to Kansas in 1866 and settled in tbe Harmony school district southwest of Hartford. He was married to Miss Minnie Morris on Dec. 24,1893, and to this union children were born, four daughters and three sons, all of whom are living. They are, Miss Hattie Clemmer, a trained nurse; Mrs. H.B. Brickey; Sadie (Mrs. Jesse Cbambers).; Ava (Mrs. Clarence Swarner), and Byron and William Clemmer, all of this place, and James Clemmer, of Emporia. Sixteen grandchildren, Farice, Francis aud LaVada Heller; Warren, Bonnie Mae and Wayne Brickey: Dale and George Swarner; James Junior, Doreen and Marlene Clemmer; Eva, Charles and Barbara Jean Clemmer, Mary Jane and Glenda Clemmer, and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Beach, of this place, also survive. The deceased united with the Methodist church at Harmony when a young man and has always lived a consistent Christian life. He was a loving husband and father, a true friend and loyal neighbor. Many a kindly deeds was .accredited to his thoughtfulness and supervision. He will be missed in the home circle, in the town and in Harmony district. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the EImendaro Presbyterian church, conducted by a reader of the International Bible Student Body of Abilene. Burial was made in the Lena VaIIey cemetery.
