JOSEPH LANDES
Joseph Landes, 89, 815 Alexandria Pike, died at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Landes was born April 16, 1867, near Perkinsville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Landes. He had lived in Madison County all his life and was well known as a contractor, a business from which he retired in 1935. He had been a member of the IOOF in Anderson since 1901 and was past noble grand of the lodge. Surviving are four sons, Charles, Marion, Herman, and Kenneth Landes, all of Anderson; three Daughters, Miss Lillie Landes, Anderson, Miss Dora Landes, Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Gladys Enright, Arcadia; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Sells and Rowe Funeral Home, where services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. S. C. Thornhill, pastor of the Christian Alliance Missionary Church. The IOOF Lodge will conduct graveside rites in West Maplewood Cemetery.
