Husband of Sarah Sipe (1826 - 1899).
Father of Mary Ann, Charles and Wesley Anderson.
Brother of: George, Solomon, Magdalena, Mary, Henry, John, Eliza, Daniel, Barbara, Samuel, William, Alexander, Joseph, Rebecca and Rosina Anderson.
David Anderson was a Civil War veteran, who enlisted in Harrisburg at the rank of private with Co. B, 10th U.S. Inf, on February 1, 1864. Suffered eye damage in the battle of Spotsylvania when a shell exploded nearby and threw dirt into them. Deserted June 23, 1865. Not arrested until March 5, 1867, he was court-martialed and confined in the prison at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Discharged October 13, 1868, at the end of his term plus the missed time, but, strangely, there is no indication of a dishonorable discharge. He likely deserted due to ill health given that military records list thirteen occasions in which he was admitted to a hospital. [Military info from Dennis Brandt]
