Birth: unknown
Death: 1886

"The Dead Man - Found dead in his wagon near Rosston about 1885" The doctor determined he "died of a ruptured heart".

This person's estimated date of death is coincidentally close to my family story. My gggrandfather, John Harrison who lived about 10 miles east of Rosston, took a wagonload of goods to town and never returned. Research in various documents in Gainesville, Cooke County, has led me to believe John Harrison disappeared 1891-1893. He was an upstanding member of the community and there was never any suspicion that he just 'took off'. He was a member of the Mason's but I have not been able to determine which lodge.

His wife and one daughter are buried at the Pollard-Gregory Cemetery.

My heart has 'claimed' this grave but I would love to hear from anyone who might have any further information about this person, either John Harrison or The Dead Man!

The "Dr. J.R. Harper" is likely James R Harper, physician shown on the 1900 Census for Cooke County, Justice Pct 4 with his family.
