Mr. John McDaniel Boltin, 87, passed away suddenly at his home on May 24, 2022, after an extended illness.

Born January 4, 1935 in Scotia, the son of John Harold and Wennonah (Maxi) McDaniel Mason Boltin of Scotia. Mr. Boltin attended Carlisle Military School, Bob Jones University, and The Citadel. Mr. Boltin served in the United States Air Force. He worked in North Carolina for Swannanoa Juvenile Detention Center. Mr. Boltin moved back to Estill, South Carolina in 1986 and worked for the Outfitter in Estill. He was a Gunstock maker. Mr. Boltin had a trade for carving gun stocks that so few persons have. This was his way of life. He loved riding his bicycle until the last several years when his health started to fail him. He never asked anyone for anything. He attended Lebanon Church and was the caregiver for the Cemetery for many years. He also attended the Estill Presbyterian Church in the past few years.
