Margaret Barker, third child of Peter and Rose (Cunningham) Barker, was born on April 30, 1868 in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland (a suburb of Glasgow).
She was just 17 when she arrived in Boston (via the ship "Atlas") in 1885 with her mother, her brother Thomas (age 19), and sisters Ellen A. (age 22) and Susan Barker, about age 12. Father Peter Barker had emigrated to Boston the year before, sailing into New York and quickly establishing himself and a place for his family in Boston.
Margaret died just six days after her 19th Birthday. The cause listed on her death certificate was heart valve disease. She was the first of Peter Barker's Family to die and be buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Brother Thomas Barker, his wife Elizabeth (Boomer) Barker, and their four sons are interred in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dedham, MA.
