Ida Hazel Barnes was born 5 Oct 1898 in Valley City, Barnes Co., ND to Henry Brase of Germany and Mary Louise Santelman of Hay Creek, Minnesota, the 9th of 11 children. She moved with her parents to the Argusville/Gardner, ND area and attended school in Gardner. In 1914 she moved to Fargo and married Ibey Barnes. He preceded her in death 3 Mar 1983 in Palo Alto, CA, they had divorced early on. Ida was briefly married to Edward Clark and they also divroced. Ida was a clerk for Grand Recreation in Fargo, retiring in 1962. Ida and Ibey had a daughter, Merle Charleen Barnes in 1918, she died in 1966 in Fargo and is buried near her mother in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Ida died 15 Aug 1983 in Fargo at the age of 85. Ida was predeceased by her parents, and siblings, Lydia Senff, Louise Marshall, Laura Smith, Clara Carroll, Lillian Brase, Leon Brase, Emma McDonald, Esther Toohey, and Earl Brase. Only sister Della Brase survived her, she died in 1986.
