YAKIMA - Dee Adams, 70, of Wapato, WA, passed away Wednesday, July 23rd 2008 at Yakima Regional Medical Center of heart failure. Dee was born in Yakima, Washington on May 20, 1938. He was the son of Harvey and Lillian (Hoptowit) Adams.
Dee was an enrolled member of the Yakama Indian Nation. He was raised in Wapato. He attended grade school in Parker, WA and graduated from Wapato High School with the class of 1956. He also attended Yakima Valley Jr. College.
In 1958, he married Carol Perkins in Wapato. Following their marriage, they moved to East Wenatchee, WA, where Dee started A & T Pallet Company in 1964. In 1971, he built and operated Renegade Raceway. After moving back to Wapato, he started Adams and Sons Injuneering, a welding/fabricating business. Dee served on the board of directors at Mt. Adams Furniture, and Yakama Forest Products.
Dee enjoyed building. He built three homes for his family, and two Kenworth Motor homes that he and Carol traveled throughout the United States and Alaska in. He also built a 1934 Ford Roadster Pickup with two small block Chevrolet engines. He also enjoyed buying old John Deere tractors and refurbishing them to look like new. His greatest enjoyment came from the time he spent with family, especially his grandson Tim and his granddaughter Cheyenne.
Dee is survived by his wife Carol; one daughter, Tennia; two sons, Tony and Troy (Kelly) Adams; two grandchildren, Tim Thompson and Cheyenne Adams; two brothers, Leo and LeRoy (Marilyn) Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dee's name to the Central Washington Agriculture Museum, at 4508 Main Street-Union Gap, WA 98903 or Central Washington Antique Farm Equipment Club, at Dora Stump 13602 Ahtanum Road, Union Gap, WA 98903.
There will be a public viewing at 6:00 p.m. Monday July 28th at Saint Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato, followed by a Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Wapato Convention Center, 502 W. 1st St, Wapato, WA Tuesday, July 29th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Reservation Community Memorial Park.
