Anton William Medlenka was born on September 6, 1867 in Houston, Texas and was baptized on December 25, 1868 at Annunciation Church in Houston, Texas. His sponsors were William Pluta and Annie Zabzik. He grew up in Houston and by 1889, was working as an apprentice printer at the W.H. Coyle and Co. He lived with his mother Christina Bohn Medlenka at #9 Magnolia Street whose residence was located on the corner of Magnolia and Jackson. On November 15, 1899, he married Lena Reichle, daughter of Christoph Reichle, in Houston, Texas. No children were born to this family. The Reichle family was from Austin County, Texas and the father had immigrated to America from Wurtenberg, Germany. The 1900 census in Houston shows "Will" living at 1703 S E Magnolia with his wife Lena, his brother Frank and Frank's daughter Christine and his mother Christina. By 1912, Anton was working as a printer for Dealy-Adey Co, and resided on the southwest corner of Harrisburg Road and Cowling. It was soon after this that he moved to San Antonio, Texas as he is no longer listed in the Houston City Directory. Anton Medlenka lived the last 30 years of his life in San Antonio, Texas as a printer. He died on May 10, 1944 at the age of 76 after a 3-6 month illness with cancer of the stomach and was buried May 11, 1944 in the Topographical Union Plot of the City Cemetery #4 in San Antonio, Texas. His will dated December 30, 1916, left all properties to his wife Lena.
