OBIT
Today we are called upon to report the death of one of our oldest citizens, R.M. Butler, past 85 years old, who passed away after an illness of two or more years. Mr. Butler had a paralytic stroke Sunday from which he never rallied, and passed away on Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services are being held this afternoon. In June, 1881, the deceased came to Hardy and since that time has continuously made this his home. By very hard work and diligent attention to business he has accumulated considerable town property and a small farm joining town on the southeast. Perhaps there was no one in the community that was better known and more respected than Mr. Butler -- always of a kindly disposition and ready to help his neighbors at any and all times. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community. -- Hardy (From The Herald.) The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 7, 1932; pg. 6
