Born Anna Wieling on 25 Jan. 1875 in Peoria, IL, she was the third daughter (of seven) born to Henry and Theresa (Wolf) Wieling. Her father was a dealer in coal in the Peoria area and was also a charter member of the Volunteer Number 4 Fire Company in Peoria. The family faithfully followed the Roman Catholic religion. Anna was married to Peter Fandel on November 25, 1902 at the German Catholic church of St. Boniface in Peoria (see attached photo). Their first two children (Leona and Marie) were born to them in Illinois, prior to their move to Whittemore, IA in 1907 (where they joined two of Peter's brothers in farming in the area). Three more children were born there: Loretta (1908), Walter (1909), and Marcella (1911). Husband Peter died in 1935 leaving Anna and family to continue to farm. Later, Anna lived with daughters, Loretta and Marcella, for an additional 25 years at the Fandel home in Whittemore until her passing in 1960. Her parents and a few of her sisters are buried at the cemetery of St. Joseph's in West Peoria, IL.
