Mabel was born in Nebraska, however little is known about her early life. She married Franklin (Frank) Tucker Henderson Murray and they apparently began their married life in Colorado, as Frank worked in the oil fields. Frank was born in Lompoc, CA and they moved back to Lompoc and Frank started work in the Lompoc oil field north of town. They had four children: Clara (Susie), Albert, Arthur and Rosemary. Just before Rosemary was born, Frank left Mabel and married another woman out of state. Mabel was left to raise her children by herself, which she did working long, hard hours. About 25 years later Frank came back in the picture and he remarried Mabel. They moved to Van Nuys, CA, and remained married to him until Frank died in 1957. Mabel worked for Jane Russell's , the movie star, mother for many years. Mabel later sold her home in Van Nuys and moved to Redding, CA, to be by her daughter Susie, building a house next door to Susie. She raised a grandson while living in Redding.
