Sam (PET) Reeve-Clarke
Birth: unknown
British Columbia, Canada
Death: Oct. 21, 1997
Cincinnati
Hamilton County
Ohio, USA

Our Sam was the sweetest little dog anyone could ever ask for.

We adopted our Sam from the S.P.C.A on my birthday in 1993, we knew we had to get there for noon because thats when his adoption would be open, we got there about 15 minutes early and had our lil guy in our arms and on his way home within a half hour.

Sam thought he was as human as we, he loved to eat everything we ate, although we didn't allow him everything, he slept with us, if we turned on our backs he did the same, if we were on our sides he was too.

We had adopted a mate for him after we had him for about 6 months, her name was FiFi, well, he didn't want anything to do with her, she used to chase him all over the place and try to get him to mate with her, but all he did was growl at her, we used to laugh at how he would sit on the top of the stairs just to keep an eye on her while she was downstairs. Needless to say we were never made grandparents from the two of them.

Sam travelled all over with us, he loved car rides and to visit, he loved everyone. He had been to many states to visit family. Sam even had Thanksgiving dinner at the table with us, some people thought that was strange and even gross, but we did make him a plate and he had manners and ate with us, he loved Thanksgiving, he didn't even mind his bib.

We adopted him when we lived in British Columbia and then we flew him to California when we moved there and then to Kentucky when we moved there. On the way from California to Kentucky we could hear him barking under the plane, he was telling us he really should be with all the other humans.

Sam was between 11 and 13 when he passed away. He had surgery for kidney stones and a few days later he went blind. He had a bad infection in both eyes and one of them would not clear up. Sam went through a very hard time with the infections, we would sit on our bed and put the drops in his eyes, he would cry so loud, I can remember my husband holding him and me putting the drops in, we cried right along with him, our tears flowing down our faces and onto our chests. We had been taking him to an eye specialist in Ohio, we lived in Kentucky at the time, he was there 4 days a week. The doctors told us the infection is not any better and that we should remove his eye. I dropped him off about 8 a.m. and I knew something was wrong, he was weak, but he had all the tests needed to make sure his heart and everything was strong enough for the surgery. I came back in a few hours to pick him up and the doctor had told me he had a heart attack after his surgery, the doctor sat and cried with me, she knew how much our fluff ball was a part of us, he was the only animal she had ever lost on the operating table.

Our hearts still missing you Sam!!!!

The eye specialist had sent Sam to the Pines Pet Cemetery & Cremation Center to be cremated on October 22nd, 1997.

Sam is with us no matter where we go, when we have moved, he is taken on the airplane with all the other humans, while the rest of our things are taken by truck.
