Carl L. Anderson, 84, of Wardensville, W.Va., died Saturday at Autumn Assisted Living, Hagerstown, Md.
The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, Wardensville.

Biography
Carl L. Anderson, 84, of Wardensville, WV, died on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Autumn Assisted Living in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Mr. Anderson was born on March 11, 1927 in Wardensville, West Virginia, a son of the late Russell C. and Cora Rinard Anderson. He was a Police Officer for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC for 21 years and also worked for Loy Funeral Home in Wardensville. He was a member of the Wardensville United Methodist Church, Wardensville Lions Club, and VFW Post 2102 all in Wardensville, Police Association and the Police Relief Association both in Washington, DC and received an Associates degree in both Business & Police Science. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War Two.
Mr. Anderson married Nadine Kerr on January 14, 1949 in Lost River, WV. Mrs. Anderson died on June 5, 1999.
Surviving are three sons: Barry A. Anderson of Strasburg, VA; Daniel C. Anderson and Timothy C. Anderson both of Winchester, Virginia and seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two brothers: Clyde and Floyd Rinard and two sisters: Lillie Acostia and Leona Heishman.
Funeral service will be held at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, WV on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Funkhouser. Interment will be in the Greenfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
