Patrick died at the hospital in Omaha, NE. His death notice in the Stuart Advocate stated that the train bearing his body was met by a large number of friends who escorted the body to the Catholic Church. Mr. Ratigan was one of the earliest settlers here, and passed the hardships of frontier life, endured enough privations to kill an ordinary man. He was a kind hearted man, a good neighbor, and had a host of friends who will be sorry to learn of his death.
