Lee Allen Arthur, 87, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2008, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2008, in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Goodrich, Senior Pastor and the Rev. John Dillard, Associate Pastor, officiating. A reception will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Mr. Arthur was born on December 29, 1920, in Sabinal, Texas, to William Earl Arthur and Jessie Connoway Arthur. They later moved to Dundee, Texas, and he attended school in Holiday, Texas. He served in the Army Air Corps in Burma and India during World War II and was sustained at Barksdale Field in Shreveport, Louisiana. On June 3, 1943, he married Marjorie Jane Mays of Greenwood, Louisiana, in her hometown.
Mr. Arthur was a Vice President and cashier for First Wichita National Bank until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed flying, golfing, and his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years and two daughters and sons-in-law; Jane and Barry Williamson of Wichita Falls and Anne and George Popko of Athens, Texas; four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren, Leslie and husband Mark and their children Harrison, Hamilton, and Hulen Howard of Wichita Falls; Maegan Williamson of Wichita Falls, Texas; Angela Popko-Jacobus and husband Charles and their son, Zachary Jacobus of Fort Worth, Texas; Laura and husband Steve and their children Amber, Stevie and Leah Otillar of Houston, Texas.
The family would like to thank the aides, nurses, and doctors of Kell West Regional Hospital for their loving care and kindness and the FUMC for their support given to the family.
Honorary Pallbearers are: George Yarbro, Bob Medlinger, Dr. Jerry Myers, Bob Littleton, Pat Blackburn, Hill Howard, and Dr. Brian Hull.
The family will receive visitors at the home of Mark and Leslie Howard, 2404 Clayton Drive, from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 24th.
