Drive safely! Watch for pedestrians!
Just two days after graduating from San Francisco State University, Srijaya Dalton died after a traffic incident involving a hit and run driver on May 26, 2003 in San Francisco. She is survived by her mother, Mary Parker Dalton of Chico, CA, father, William J. Dalton of Bali, Indonesia, sister, Ari Dalton of Chico, CA, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Parker of Georgetown, TX, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. A native of Chico, CA, Miss Dalton will be remembered for her creative, free spirit, love of learning and beautiful smile. The 22-year old was an unusually gifted musician who studied the saxophone, trombone and piano and freely shared her love of music with others. Inspired by beauty, she derived great joy from her passions for painting and photography as well as her love of flowers. Her inquisitive nature prompted her to travel throughout the United States and the world, including Europe, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia. Miss Dalton attended Hooker Oak and Marigold Elementary schools, Chico Junior High School, and graduated from Chico High School in 1998. Following three years of study at California State University, Chico, Miss Dalton transferred to San Francisco State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema Studies and a minor in Italian. She had most recently worked as a teacher's assistant for a film class. Miss Dalton had participated in commencement exercises on Saturday, May 24, and was joined by her family for this time of celebration. She had planned to visit her father in Bali this summer and attend graduate school in the fall to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a university professor.
