CANBY (Special)—Sarah Elizabeth Adcock, a Clackamas county resident since 1900, died Tuesday evening at her Canby home just a week short of her 83rd birthday. She had lived near Willamette from 1916 until moving to Canby in 1951, and earlier had lived in the Mt. Pleasant district.
Widow of David Franklin Adcock, who died in 1918, she had operated their Tualatin river farm near Willamette until she was 76 years old. She had served on the election board and on the county Republican central committee and had taken active part in Willamette grange before moving to Canby.
Daughter of Joseph A. Roman, Civil war veteran, and Alice Milner Roman, she was born in Cecil county, Md., on July 22, 1875. In 1882 the family moved to Hickory county, Mo., where she attended the Diamond Grove school and Weaubleau Christian college. In 1900 she accompanied her parents to Oregon; she was married in Oregon City Congregational parsonage on August 9, 1905, to David F. Adcock, and their first home was near Willamette. From 1908 until 1916 they lived at Mt. Pleasant, then moved to their farm bordering the Tualatin river.
Two daughters survive, Miss L. Annette Adcock and Mrs. William G. (Myra) Weston, both of Canby; a grandson, David Weston, Canby; two sisters, Mrs. Hanna R. Snidow, Willamette; Mrs. Frank (Emma) Guenther, Oregon City, the oldest and youngest of the eight Roman children. J. G. Adcock of Clackamas Height is a brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM from the Canby chapel of Everhart and Kent, with interment in Mt. View cemetery Oregon City.
