GALENA FARMER DIES
AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS


Galena, Kan., Feb. 12.—John Carver, pioneer resident of Garden township and well known farmer of the Galena territory died at his home three miles south of here early this morning, following a short illness of pneumonia.

Carver was 38 years old and was born at the farm home September 6, (sic) [16] 1881. He was a leading figure in the activities of the locality in which he lived. He is survived by his wife, Dollie Carver, two sons, Milton (sic)[or Melton] Carver, 15 years old and John Carver, Jr., 6 years old, and an infant daughter (sic) [son], and one brother, Charles Carver and two sisters, Mrs. William Lee and Mrs. Myrtle Smith, of Neosho.

Funeral services will be held in the family residence at 2:30 o’clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be at the Gandy cemetery.
