Daniel came to Randolph Co IN from Butler Co OH with his wife Mary Freeman and nine young children in 1855. He settled on a section of land in White River Twp., 4 1/2 miles out the Greenville Pike southeast of Winchester. There they lived in a log cabin along the little stream which was the headwaters of White River. Two more children were born to them and the eldest son came later. They all thrived, making a good life on their farm and building a big house which still stands. He was esteemed a a good man, righteous and kind. The farm was eventually divided up amongst his children, the youngest Heenan and eventually Heenan's son Fred and then Fred's son Charles living in the Big House.
