Sergeant Robert B Biemslager, DSN 0158, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 12/15/1952. After completion of the academy he was assigned to the 6Th District, Traffic Control Section, Bureau of Investigation, Bomb and Arson Section, Narcotics Division, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Office of the Chief of Police, Tactical Anti-crime Team, Tactical Anti-Crime Section, and finally the Bureau of Field Operations. He was promoted to Sergeant on 05/30/1976, and during his distinguished career he was awarded 3 Chief's Letters of Commendation for outstanding police work. When he retired on 06/03/1983 he had a total of 30.46 years of dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. He was also a veteran on the United States Marine Corps and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Robert B. Biemslager, 88, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday morning, September 8, 2012 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He was a son of the late Joseph and Caroline Rieffer Biemslager born on December 19, 1923 in St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Biemslager was a retired detective sergeant from the St. Louis Police Metropolitan Department, a former security guard at the Knox County Hospital, a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a member of Men of a Thousand Legions and a member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church. He faithfully served his country in the Marine Corps and Army Reserve.
On February 23, 1983, he united in marriage with Lucy Mae Dunn in St. Louis, MO.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Sammelman; a sister, Gladys Theobald; two brothers, Ray and Kenneth Biemslager and three grandchildren, Donnie, Kathleen and Joseph Blanc.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Biemslager of Barbourville; four children, Kathleen Blanc and husband, Don, of St. Louis, MO, Glenda LeMay and husband, Jason, of Frankfort, Rick Sadler and wife, Rebecca, of London and Marketta Castle of Barbourville; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A funeral mass will be conducted at the St. Gregory Catholic Church Tuesday, September 11 at 2 P.M. with Father Thobias Sabariar and Deacon Jack Raymond officiating.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. with a rosary service beginning at 8:30 P.M.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 329 North Sycamore Drive, Barbourville, KY 40906 in loving memory of Mr. Biemslager.
