|Birth: ||Sep. 19, 1842|

Father of Charles and Henry Greene.
Thomas and Lelia Greene lived in Cincinnati until 1874 when the family moved to St. Louis, where Thomas was employed as a bookkeeper and cashier. In 1879, however, the family returned to Cincinnati so that Thomas could attend medical school. Upon completion of his studies, the family moved back to St. Louis, where Dr. Greene established a practice as a respiratory physician. Then in 1893, they moved to the "little country town" of Pasadena.
Thank you for creating this memorial information for Thomas Sumner Greene. He was the father of the famous architects, Charles Sumner Greene (1868-1957) as well as Henry Mather Greene (1870-1954), who is buried at the cemetery of the Church of Our Savior in San Gabriel, CA. Dr. Greene and Mrs. Greene came to Pasadena in 1892, not '93, by the way. This is well documented by letters in the Greene & Greene Archives at the Huntington Library, San Marino, CA, where Dr. Greene's Civil War memoirs also reside.
