Karleen Lavonn (Whisman) Binder was born on May 26, 1936 in Alva to Raymond Lewis and Mable(Buxton) Whisman. She was reared in Alva and attended Alva Public Schools. She met Frederick Carl Binder in Waynoka and they were married on June 9, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas. They made their hom in Wichita for six months before returning to Alva. To this union one son was born Frederick Carl Binder Jr. The family then moved to Colorado and lived in several places before moving to Woodward in 1961. Karleen worked as a cook for a short time before becoming a stay at home mom. Fred preceded her in death on December 11, 1997.
Karleen's pride and joy was her grandchildren, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Karleen enjoyed making crafts and crocheting. Karleen and Fred attended several craft shows, traveling as far away as Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She was a avid member to TOPS "Take Off Pounds Sensibly. She attended the New Adventure House where she enjoyed having coffee and visiting with friends. She also was an avid listener of gospel music. Karleen was lovingly called Aunt Pookie by her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by one son Junior Binder "J.B" and wife Tyra of Woodward; two grandchildren, Buckly Binder of Woodward, and Tabitha Binder of Oklahoma City; several nieces and nephews; many friends and several other family members.
Besides her husband, Karleen was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers
